PERSONALITY: Natalie was okay at one point, she used to be the sweetest girl that you ever met, she wouldn’t dare hurt a fly, but now… she’s different. Natalie is very secretive and she tends to avoid questions regarding her doing something stupid. She tries to avoid getting close to people because she fears that they’ll leave her or die on her. Natalie really is scared and broken soul, but she hides it by being a bad ass who does stupid things. Natalie isn’t a liar though, and she won’t lie about what she does, she also doesn’t care if she gets into trouble, even if she does get caught by her father. Natalie only confides in her brother, who she trusts like there’s no tomorrow, and yeah, she told him about the fact that she can’t stop popping pills and getting into drugs.
Natalie is emotionally unstable sometimes, and with regards to that, she doesn’t have anger issues, she’ll just find herself crying uncontrollably for one reason or another. She tends to spend most of her time, when she’s not out partying, up in her room, door closed and her cat with her. Natalie has broken her habit of cutting, which she kept to her sides, seeing how her father or brother never looked there. More or less, what she does, just hides her pain inside, and she does want to be happy again, she just wants to feel whole and okay again, but that doesn’t explain why she shuts everyone out...
PHYSICAL: Natalie has gorgeous dark brown eyes and the hair to match it. She wears her hair either in curls or straught. As of late though, she's just been tossing it into a bun or even just a pony tail. She doesn't exactly go easy with the makeup. She's normally sporting a darker smokey eye, she likes how it suits her face. As for her figure, she has more in the back than in the front, if you know what I mean. She's tiny, people have a tendancy to pick her up and toss her over their shoulder.
She tends to wear basic clothing. Jeans with a long sleeved t-shirt. Occasionally, she'll sport a tank top and leggings, but it's almost always too cold for her to do that. Nat's been known to sport skirts with knee high boots as well. She has a tattoo along her hip, four stars going up her side. Nat's got a couple good size scars, mostly from falling when she was younger. However, the inside of her thighs and her rib cage, are covered with either fresh, healing or scarred cuts.
HISTORY: Natalie Jane Ward was born in Miami, Florida, where she was raised until she turned 15, when everything fell to hell in a handbasket. Her mom and dad had started to fight a lot more and she had her little brother, Zack, had really started to notice it too. Natalie recalls spending more nights at Ben Williams house then her own. Let me talk about Ben for a minute. Ben Williams has been and was her best friend since she was 6 years old and she met him the day he moved into the house next door. She and Ben had instantly clicked, and they had become friends over the next week and best friends the week after that. When Ben was eight years old, his mom had died, and his father, Chris couldn’t stand to be in the same city anymore, by the time Ben was nine, they had moved to New Orleans. Natalie and Ben talked over the phone and once they were old enough too, they talked over the webcam, but it was never the same. As Natalie grew older she became more and more attracted to Ben, but as she got older, she became involved with Volleyball and once she hit high school, boys. But that only lasted until she turned fourteen, which was really when her parents started to fight, but something else happened in her fourteenth year.
One night, around three in the morning, she got a call from Ben, who was in tears, telling her that he had been diagnosed with Cancer, which broke Natalie’s heart and all she wanted was to be there for him the entire way. Soon enough though, she would find herself in New Orleans. Her parents has gotten a divorce, and Emily gladly gave Kyle full custody of both Nat and Zack, and he promptly moved them to New Orleans. Natalie fit right in when she started school there, she even became captain of the Volleyball team, and she finally got a date with Ben, even though he told her that he was probably going to die anyways, but she didn’t care at all. She didn’t care when he lost all of hair from Chemo either, she loved him for who he was, not how he looked. December 24, 2012 was a horrible day, because on that day, Ben, Chris, Kyle, Zack and Natalie had learned that Ben had 6 months to live. And through those 6 months, Natalie cherished every moment she had with Ben.
May 11, 2013, the worst day for everyone. Ben had been in the hospital for over a week, he was too weak and feeble to do anything, and it pained Natalie more then ever to see him like that, pale and sickly. She didn’t go to school that week, she didn’t want to hear that Ben had died while she was at school. She can still clearly remember his last words, they were, “Natalie, please don’t cry for me… don’t pity me because I died, be grateful that I’m not suffering anymore and I love you…” were his last words to her and to the world. She remembered she laid next to him on the bed with her head on his chest as she heard his heartbeat slowly fade away until it was silent. Natalie didn’t sob out loud, she only laid there, tears rolling down her face, until she was forcibly moved by her father.
Natalie spent the next week curled up, crying, in her bedroom with the lights off, and she barely made it through his funeral. That’s when she found comfort in pain killers and sleeping pills. They made her feel numb, feel good about herself. She did cut herself, but she found that she didn’t like the pain she got from it, so she just kept to the pills that she would either steal or find a way to buy them. Needless to say, her grades went down and she was no longer able to get into college on a scholarship with Volleyball. Natalie also had a secret that she kept very secretive, she was pregnant at seventeen, and yes it was Ben's. She was 3 months pregnant when he died, and she later miscarried from the stress and what she was feeling. It would have been one of the few memories of him that she had left.
Natalie had thought about ending her life after Ben had died, which is why she tried to over dose on a high powered sleeping pill. She just wanted to be rid of the grief that she was feeling, and still is feeling, which was why she did it. After her father had found her like that, she was grateful for it, but that still hasn't stopped her from popping pain meds. After Natalie woke up in the hospital, she sort of clung to her father as she cried uncontrollably, and told him about her miscarriage.
Natalie, currently, has gone bad ass and tries to avoid contact with her father, and she refuses to talk to her mother, mostly because she makes Natalie feel even worse then she does most days.

Looking over at this… well geekish looking man, Natalie simply took another long drag and blew the smoke out in the other direction. Her eyes slowly looked up and down his body, “Is anyone ever okay if they’re outside of a cemetery?” she questioned with one eyebrow raised. She looked away, well aware of how red, puffy and bloodshot her eyes were, from both the pot and the crying. Natalie was a wreck to say the least. She took another long drag on the last little bit of her joint and put it out in the ash tray next to her. She wasn’t sure how she felt about this guy, but there was something about him that made her realise she may be able to trust him.
“We all have someone here and if we don’t, they’ll wind up here eventually.” She said solemnly, “Trust me when I say I’d rather be anywhere but here. I don’t even know why I came here.” She crouched down, her back against the stone pillar draping her arms over her knees as she looked up at him, “I don’t see the point in it. It’s not them… it’s their body, it’s not gonna make anything better, talking to a stone.” She wished she still had some of her joint left. Natalie’s lip trembled a bit, she tended to rant on when she really had no idea what else she could possibly say to make this okay, "And going in there, is just another reminder that he's gone forever. I'm tired of being reminded he's dead. Reminders are everywhere... and it sucks. Nothing can make this better in the end."
Grinding her teeth together, she took in a shaky breath, “Because in the end, every candle you light and every time you come see them, it’s not gonna matter in the end. You’ll still have an empty hole in your chest where that person used to be… and nothing will ever change that.” She angrily wiped at her eyes as tears began to fall, “God… look at me… just ranting to some random guy on the streets.” She sighed and stood up as she felt the wind brush against her skin and suddenly, she didn’t feel so alone, she felt safe and she felt like Ben was there, but it wasn’t just that.
This man who she just met… she just knew that she could trust him. She would never understand why, but she knew she could. There was something about him that comforted her on so many levels. Was it his voice? His eyes? How caring he seemed, even though they had barely just met? She was unsure of it, but she felt some sort of connection with this man. “I’m uh… Nat, by the way.” She said as she looked over at him. She crossed her arms and leaned up against the pillar. Her short revealed the new gashes along her inner thighs as well as the still healing pink scars.
“You said you had someone to visit here… would I be prying if I asked who?” She could still smell the pot on her and the scent sure was comforting and if she id wind up actually going into see Ben’s grave, she’d need some sort of comforting scent and this was it. It wasn’t close to the one smell that comforted her and that was Ben’s. The things she had of his lost their smell, which was why she slept on the couch in his old house sometimes, it was all she had left of him. She longed to be held in his arms again and hear him sing softly into her ear as they laid beneath the stars, and sadly, that was something she’d never get to feel again.
