PERSONALITY:
Chandler is kind of a hard person to get to know. One reason for this is simply the fact that she's a very, very secretive girl. She's never been the type to open up, and considering the fact that her life has recently become one giant secret, she's had to practice keeping things to herself and perfect the art of lying. Chandler's, well, an amazing liar when she needs to be. She can keep a straight face without flinching, without even the slightest twitch of her lips. Lying could mean the difference between life and death for her, though, so she was sort of forced into becoming so sneaky.
When you do get her to open up, she has a tendency to come off as a bit snarky. Chandler's second language is definitely sarcasm, and she could easily win a fight with words. Most of the time it's just out of being playful, but she can be downright mean when she really needs to be. She inherited that from her dad, her sometimes harsh temper and brutally honest nature. Most of the time it just slips out when she snaps, and whether she shows it or not, she usually feels bad when she hits someone with a biting remark.
Chandler's a fighter with more than just her words, though. Thanks to, well, both of her parents, she learned a lot of self defense. She's good with hand-to-hand combat and even knows how to shoot and operate a gun. Her weapon of choice, though, would have to be her bow and arrow. She's entered tons of archery contests growing up and takes home the gold more often than not. It was the only way that she and her dad bonded while he was alive. Since neither of her parents were really the sit around and have game night types, she had to find other ways to spend time with them while they were around, and archery was her ticket to that. She shoots arrows around the woods behind her house a lot of the time, and can usually be found there practicing or out for a run.
She does like to sit around and read sometimes. Chandler isn't one of those people who has to constantly be moving; she's perfectly content with having a lazy, no drama day with movies, books and coffee. Her books are her best friends, and she has a whole library in her uncle's attic. Most of the time, when she does have some down-time, she'll be found with her nose buried in the pages of a new book.
All in all, she's very reserved, but with good reason. She can lie to your face without any indication that she is lying, and can bite your head off with her words if she really needs to. There's a lot of mystery to this girl, though. She has many secrets to be kept hidden, and she'll carry them to her grave.
PHYSICAL:
Chandler really is a cute girl at first glance. She's very tiny and petite, and you wouldn't think that such a fragile looking girl could shoot you right between the eyes when given the chance. Her big, round brown eyes add to that illusion. They give her an almost innocent appearance and help her pull off a puppy-dog pouting face when she needs to. Her skin is very pale and porcelain-like; you'd think that she spent most of her life living under a rock with how light her skin tone is (her uncle makes a lot of comments like this, and also says that he can literally "see right through her"). Also, she has a dimple on one of her cheeks that always shows itself out when she's smiling.
Her hair is very short, not even reaching her shoulders. It's dark brown, with a few lighter, caramel-colored highlights. Chandler normally lets her hair fall in round, bouncy curls, though she occasionally lets it stay in its naturally straight style. She can't do many other styles with it, minus a high bun or ponytail every once in awhile, which is normally how she wears it when she's practicing.
Her clothes make her look even more like a porcelain doll. Chandler does dress rather deceivingly, considering the fact that she wears dresses as much as she wears yoga pants. She never dresses too extravagantly, not wanting to draw too much attention to herself, but she does dress like a normal teenage girl. She'd never had an opportunity to really be girly in her life, so when she moved in with her uncle, she sort of jumped on that chance.
HISTORY:
Chandler's parents never planned on having children. Both of them were FBI agents, you see, and with how much their job had them travelling and put them in danger, they didn't want to bring a child into the world. It happened, though, and their baby girl Chance Killian was born.
Confused yet?
Chance Killian was Chandler's real name, her birth name, before she had to change it. There will be more about that later, though.
"Chance" was raised in Quantico, Virginia. It was her mother, Candice Killian, who spent the most time with her during her early life. While her dad, Matthew, traveled, Chance stayed at their little house with her mother. That's probably why she always was closest with her mom. While she barely ever saw her dad, her mom was by her side constantly for the first five years of her life. Her mom was restless, though, and missed working, so a little while after Chance turned five, she went back to work and instead asked if Chance's uncle Mason would look after her.
After that, her parents spent most of their time bringing in the bad guys and saving the world. Chance and Uncle Mason got along pretty well. It was with him that she sort of had a chance to really, well, be a kid. He played games with her and watched every Disney movie that she wanted to watch, as many times as she wanted to watch them. He became little Chance's best friend, and during her early life, he raised her more than both of her parents combined.
As she grew older, her parents didn't even really bond with her when they came home. Instead, they trained her. They trained her in self-defense, and gave her her first bow and arrow when she turned eleven to train her with that. Chance didn't really grow up like normal children. She grew up learning how to fight and how to protect herself. With how protective her parents were, it was hard for her to make friends, and dating? The second a boy stepped foot on her porch, her dad would pull out his badge and the boy would be gone without a second glance. Chance was very socially-deprived, both as a kid and later on as a teenager. Her uncle, and rarely her parents, were all that she ever really knew.
When she was sixteen, though, the unthinkable happened. Her parents were home, and for the first time in awhile, all three of them were together. Chance was happy with that, because for the first time in awhile, they were all actually bonding like a happy, normal family. She went to bed with a smile on her face, only to be woken up in the middle of the night by a loud, crashing sound, followed by two loud gun shots. Chance jumped out of bed and bolted down the steps, only to find her parents' dead bodies in a pool of blood in the kitchen, the window shattered.
She didn't know how long she screamed, or when she finally composed herself enough to call 9-1-1, but she eventually did. Everything after that was a blur. The police showed up, her uncle showed up, and she was taken to the station as a witness. Being in the FBI, her parents had made quite a few enemies, and one of them decided to finish them off that night. The police were worried, though, that his next target would he their daughter.
The next thing Chance knew, before she even had time to grieve over the loss of her parents, she was placed in the Witness Protection Program with her uncle. She chopped off her long, dark hair, and was given a new name: Chandler Kinsley. Her Uncle Mason became Uncle Maddox, and the two of them were relocated to the small, secluded town of Forks, Washington.
Chandler has been living there with her uncle ever since, in a cozy little house near the woods. Her parents' killer is still out there, and until then, she has a whole fake story that she's required to tell people; Her name is Chandler Kinsley, her parents were killed in a bus accident. She's currently going to school as a senior and trying to make it through without getting, well, attached to anyone. She doesn't want anyone else dragged into her drama of a life, and she's scared, scared of being discovered and ending up just like her parents.
